California Coastal Beach Workgroups

The aim to bring stakeholders from all sectors together to discuss local beach monitoring programs, new technologies, and water quality monitoring regulations. The goal is to protect public health and the environment through feasible and cost-effective means. There are two workgroups, northern and southern, with a region-specific focus. Everyone is welcome to attend either or both. Meetings are typically held bi-annually in May and November.

Related Workgroups

The two Beach Water Quality Workgroups are part of the larger Safe-to-Swim Network which also includes the Inland Beach Monitoring Workgroup. The Safe-to-Swim Workgroup aims to look at statewide beach water quality issues and the policies and procedures that affect their management. The Safe-to-Swim Workgroup, the Inland Beaches Workgroup, and the two Beach Water Quality Workgroups reside within the California Water Quality Management Council.
